In order to increase the production of food by reducing the loss of the floods in 1954 and 1955 after the severe flooding of 1955, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (EPWPDA) was formed in 1957 with the recommendation of the Crude Mission for water management and development of the region in 1959. At present, the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) starts the inquiry as the main body of the country's water resources management to increase the production of agricultural and fishery resources by implementing the flood control, drainage and irrigation projects of the EPWPDA. After independence, the Water Development Board (BWDB), as the autonomous body of Bangladesh, with the same mandate of the EPWPDA's water component, was issued by the President's order No. 59 of 1972. Then, in line with the reform and reform, the National Water Policy-1999 and the National Water Management Plan-2004 are in keeping with the BWDB Act, 2000. Under this law, the 13-member water council headed by the Ministry of Water Resources, headed by the Water Resources Ministry, is working to develop and manage the strategy of the era.
